CO2 emission estimation and monitoring
Eco-drive support
The Frankfurt pilot site is located in the metropolitan area of Frankfurt Rhein-Main, one out of the eleven metropolitan areas in Germany. This area is predominantly located in the Federal State of Hessen and has a long history as a transport and transit node located in the centre of Germany and Europe.
With the exception of maritime logistics, all the services involved in CO-GISTICS are present in the Frankfurt regional system. The focus of the pilot site lies on air cargo companies and knowledge-intensive services around logistics and transport.
Frankfurt enjoys an advanced intermodal traffic infrastructure with major terminals in rail, short sea-shipping, road and air cargo. The region has become the host region of one of the most frequented intersections in Europe, the A3/A5 highway. Frankfurt is additionally the host of the internet traffic hub DE-CIX which is one of the largest of its kind in Europe and worldwide. The pilot site is the regional test market and demonstrator for projects in the field of interoperability, inter-modality as well as communicative cargo.
The pilot site will deploy the CO2 emission estimation and monitoring and the Eco-drive support services on roads towards the airport from A3/A5 feeding roads and onsite the apron (Cargo Cities North and South). The regional CO-GISTICS Partners involved in the pilot site implementation are Schenker Deutschland AG (user company), Fraport AG (airport manager and hub infrastructure provider), T-Systems International GmbH (technology provider) and the House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) GmbH as pilot site leader and project platform for logistics and mobility topics.
